Jamie Massey wins Kokomo; James A. Murphy is Series Champion

The first ever season for the League of Outlaws came to it’s final conclusion last night as drivers battled through 50 laps at the challenging Kokomo Speedway. James A. Murphy, had a giant point lead entering the very foggy night and would cruise to a 4th place finish and claim the League of Outlaws IMCA Style Modified Series. Jamie Massey, overcame a tough heat race and won the Feature after leading 14 laps.

Massey made slight contact with Trevor Doyle in their heat race coming out of the corner as Massey was trying to make a pass on Trevor. The contact caused Doyle to spin out and Race Control sent Massey to the rear of the field under yellow. Massey would rally back to a 3rd place finish in his heat race, Doyle to finish 2nd with season champ James Murphy with the heat 1 win. Keith Hackney would score the win in heat 2.

James Murphy led the field to the green flag for the feature event and would lead the first 4 laps until Trevor Doyle made a pass for the lead on the inside. Murphy slid back to 4th place after losing the lead and that is where he would finish after some great battling with Trevor Doyle for 3rd. NLR House of Speed teammates Jamie Massey and Keith Hackney would finish 1st and 2nd, Doyle in 3rd, James Murphy in 4th, and AJ Hunsinger scooted by Jared Murphy in the closing laps for a 5th place finish.

James Murphy claims the season title, brother Jared Murphy would place 2nd in points just two points ahead of AJ Hunsinger in 3rd place, 4th place belongs to Chris R. Cox after a great season, and Trevor Doyle finishes 5th in points.

The first race of the upcoming 2024 Season 1 will begin in two weeks at the Chili Bowl. Chili Bowl is race one of 6 tracks on the upcoming seasons schedule.
