League owner AJ Hunsinger wanted to do something special for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness as a member of his family and someone who is dear to him is now going through Pancreatic Cancer. November is the official Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month so this weeks race at Lanier was a great track to do it at. The race was once again a hosted session open to the public to help with car counts which is still struggling so far this season. Along with the open session came lots of pros and cons but one thing remains true and that is that James Murphy found victory lane for the third straight race this season.
There were close to 40 drivers that joined the session which called for eight heat races. James was the winner of heat 1, heat 2 winner was Kaleb Lomasney, heat 3 went to Racen Stacy, heat 4 was won by Jared Murphy, heat 5 to Landen Dawson, Bailey Rosbach won heat 6, Robert Floyd won heat 7, and the final heat winner of heat 8 was Dominic Wright.
James Murphy led the field to the green flag in the feature and there would be a quick heat 1 caution. Jonathan Frisbie would check up on the initial start and cause a chain reaction which caused a stack up that led to Nate Hammond making contact with the car in front of him. The contact led to suspension damage causing the car to go straight into the outside wall. Hammond’s night would end before it even started.
After the restart, there was 3 and 4 wide racing throughout the entire field. Some cars were running the extreme low line along the inside wall, others right through the middle in the slick, some up top, and some running the slider line. By lap 7, there would be another yellow flag as Bailey in the #8 got a little too sideways running the low line and made slight contact with the inside wall. Wright, directly behind him, made contact with Bailey and he and others would get involved. Wright would have to make his way pitside with damage.
Green flag back out and drivers were again all over the track trying to make as much improvement up through the field as possible. After a couple late race cautions, James Murphy was able to hold everyone off as he led every lap on his way to his 3rd victory of the still early season.
Moving forward, the League of Outlaws is going to go back to closed sessions through the league UI as long as the car counts look promising. Running the races through open hosted sessions through the public allowed for the league to gain a few good drivers but also allowed a few bad drivers as well. The open sessions also cause complications trying to set appropriate settings for heat transfer spots, B-main settings, etc. For now, each race will remain free with no entry fee. More news is set to follow this week which will be available in our Discord.
