The League of Outlaws Dirt Trucks found their way to Pennsylvania Sunday night for competition at Lernerville Speedway. The car count for the Trucks Series has been very low compared to the LoO Premier IMCA Style Modified Series and that held true last night. With just 10 total drivers registered and 3 drivers not being able to make the event, League of Outlaws owner and driver, decided it would be in the best interest for everyone if the race was shortened from its original 75 scheduled laps to just 30 laps. Along with the shortened race, it was also decided to cancel the events broadcast that PeaceMaker was set to host as always.
“It’s no secret that the Trucks aren’t very popular. We all contribute it to the difficulty in which the Trucks are to drive on dirt. It’s a shame because it is some amazing racing and really brings out the talented drivers with how important throttle control is.”
At the end of the shortened Cliffhanger 75, James A. Murphy was able to reestablish his presence back in victory lane after picking up the win by 4.6 seconds over runner up Mark Manno with Chris R. Cox coming home in the third position.
It has been discussed a lot lately of the possibility of cancelling the remaining LoO Dirt Trucks Schedule and replacing the bi-weekly Sunday night racing with another class or series. There is a lot of interest in the LoO IMCA Style Modifieds and the modifieds have been talked about with having a second series of some sort. Another option would be the IMCA Style Stock Cars using the Dirt Street Stocks. But, there hasn’t been enough testing to come of with a rock solid setup to be able to launch a LoO IMCA Style Stock Car Series quite yet. Stay tuned for more information.
